A classic event returns to Ginzling in the Ziller Valley on the 22nd August 2020. Even after more than 50 years, the Steinbock hike is as popular as ever. Competitors must hike an impressive total of 30km, including an exhausting 3,484 altitude metres. The newer Steinbock trail run has also become one of the highlights of the summer trail-running calendar. Whichever challenge you decide to take on, the "Early Bird Ticket" guarantees your place in the 2020 race. Hikers can choose to start the "Steinbockmarsch“ between 5am and 8am. However, runners in the "Steinbocklauf“ start together at 5.30am. The route leads from Ginzling through the Floitental valley, ascending up to the Mörchnerscharte, the highest point of the hike at an altitude of 2,870m. The descent takes you past the Schwarzsee lake and the Berliner Hut in the Zemm Valley until you reach the finish line at the Gasthaus Breitlahner. On the way, you will pass several refreshment stalls, where you can top up your energy levels to make it to the end. Watch out for the check-in points along the route which every participant needs to pass to make sure they qualify in the rankings. When you cross the finish line, you will be awarded the Ziller Valley Steinbock badge as recognition of your effort and endurance.
